    1. What are Referrer stats? - Top

Referrers stats provide information on what page a surfer was on before they visited your site. - Updated: September 23, 1999

    2. Why should I use Referrer stats? - Top

You should use Referrer stats if you need to know where your traffic is coming from. If you are promoting your site through search engine submissions, link swaps, or advertising, Referrer stats gives you detailed data on which promotional campaign is most effective.

With SexList Referrer, you can view the total number of visits to your site broken down by referring domain, URL, country, search engine, search engine keywords, and search engine phrases. Unlike most other counters, your top 100 referrers are saved indefinitely, from the time you begin tracking them. You can view real-time Referrer stats for the current day, as well as summaries of Referrer stats by week, month, or year.

All these statistics allow you to make more informed decisions regarding the promotion of your site.

    3. I would like to add Referrer stats to my page; how can I do this? - Top

To activate Referrer stats tracking for a page on your site, you must place a small amount of JavaScript code on your page that will be executed when a surfer loads your page. This chunk of code is separate from your normal SexList counter code.

If have not already signed up for a SexList counter, Signup Here and check the "Referrer stats" option in the form.

If you have already signed up for a SexList counter, go to your Webmaster Console and check off the "Referrer stats" option. After you submit the change, your new Referrer tracking code will be displayed for you to cut and paste onto the pages of your site. - Updated: January 20th, 2003

    4. Why doesn't the referrer code return an image? - Top

The Referrer stats code is supposed to be invisible. It returns a 1 pixel by 1 pixel transparent image that is not linked to any site. As long as you have the normal counter code on your page, there is no reason to have another counter image showing up on your page. - Updated: September 23, 1999

    5. Why are the totals for my Referrer stats lower than my traffic totals? - Top

Referrer stats rely on a small chunk of JavaScript code to be placed on your page. This code is executed every time someone loads your page. The surfer has the option to turn JavaScript on or off in their browser, and if the user has JavaScript turned off, that code on your page will not be executed. This results in 10-15% (on average) fewer hits counted by Referrer stats than by the more accurate counter stats. - Updated: September 23, 1999
